Favorite Font Friday - Arquitecta
Every Friday we’re sharing some font love. Today’s feature is the “rational geometric” typeface used in our logo design for The Panel. I seem to have an affinity for South American font designers and this team from Chilean-based Latinotype – the foundry behind this week’s favorite – is no exception. Designed by Daniel Hernández and Miguel Hernández, here’s ARQUITECTA.
Arquitecta is a sans serif with sixteen styles. With its Bauhaus-inspired triangular A and concentric O, this typeface is perfect for projects that call for an early 20th-century Modern sensibility without looking dated. Though I am partial to setting it in all-caps, there’s a progressive range in the full character set. By utilizing a small x-height and two-story lowercase “a”, this otherwise minimalist font boasts a distinct personality. Optimized for readability at scaling sizes, Arquitecta was designed “with humanist proportions suitable for text layout and continuous reading.” Check out the ink traps in the graphic below:
